Meet Rob Roy

Who could blame the Rob Roy cocktail for being a little schizophrenic. After all, the drink is really a Manhattan with scotch instead of rye. The scotch substitute isn’t a great leap when you consider the drink is named for a Scottish folk hero; Rob Roy. If you want to brush up on the history of Robert Roy Mac Gregor, catch Liam Neeson in the title role of 1995’s “Rob Roy’’ also starring Jessica Lang. For more pop culture references, read “Hocus Pocus”, Kurt Vonnegut’s 1990 novel in which the professor and protagonist, Eugene Debs Hartke, names his son for his favorite cocktail, the classic Rob Roy.
